My Identity is not in what I have done but in what Christ has done for Me

SERIES NAME: ID

BOTTOM LINE: OUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST INFLUENCES HOW WE VIEW OURSELVES AND OTHERS

SERMON SUMMARY

Coming to know Jesus is one way of laying down the lies we tend to tell ourselves so that we can embrace what’s true about God, us and others. When Christ comes into the life of a believer it means that he begins to redefine that person’s life. But the process of redefining is also a process of shedding off what does not belong to God.

Embracing our identity in Christ means that we are willing to say yes to some things we are not familiar with and at the same time it also means saying no to some things we are familiar with but are not on God’s agenda for our lives. When we truly embrace our Identity in Christ it does not mean we lose our true selves but that in Christ we become our true selves.

Our identity is not in what we do or say however, what we do or say stems from our identity in Christ.

Our doing might not influence our identity in Christ but our identity in Christ must always influence our doing.
