History of Ufulu Festival

Ufulu festival began in 2014 at the City Mall Car Park, with an attendance of 300 people. The Ufulu festival began in 2014 at the City Mall Car Park, with an attendance of 300 people and enthusiastic performances.

In 2015 it moved to Mbowe car park. In 2016, the Festival attracted well over 3,000 people and had 15 different artists performing. In 2016 the main stage included talks and poems to raise awareness of the social issue of the killing of people with albinism.

In 2017 the Ufulu Festival moved to the CIVO stadium in the heart of Lilongwe and included events such as a bike race and run to raise money for vulnerable girls. The 2017 Ufulu Festival saw an attendance of over 7000 young people.

In 2018 the festival again took place at CIVO stadium and was attended by over 15000 young people and had more than 25 local artists perform.
