Gentleness is one of those concepts that we don’t really understand. Often children equate gentleness with stroking a cat nicely and not pulling its tail, or driving it away! Toddlers are frequently told to be gentle with other children, and older children are told to be gentle with babies. Other than that, gentleness isn’t really a command that most children are familiar with!

Gentleness is a deliberate choice to give other people the space they need to grow and develop. 

The Bible defines gentleness as “love in action.”
